Opening Doors with a Catholic Education Grant
The 25 community grants awarded by the Catholic Foundation in 2018 are empowering local organizations to meet needs in new ways. One of the recipients in the inaugural competitive grants process was St. Mary Catholic Central High School of Monroe (SMCC).
Foundation Hosts First Annual Grant Celebration
In the spirit of Advent joy, the Catholic Foundation distributed nearly $90,000 in grants at our first annual community grants celebration this week. The 23 local parishes, schools and ministries provide critical needs such as:
- Utilities for a home that provides a safe and loving environment for young pregnant mothers
- Employment for people experiencing homelessness who help beautify Detroit
- Evangelization and revitalization programs in Detroit neighborhoods
- Spanish leadership and marriage preparation programs
- Catholic Education inclusion program for students with developmental challenges
25 Grants Awarded to Local Parishes, Schools, and Nonprofits
The Catholic Foundation of Michigan will award $88,500 in grants to southeastern Michigan parishes, schools and community nonprofit organizations during the Foundation’s 2018 annual grant awards breakfast on December 11 at the Detroit Athletic Club.

St. Oscar Romero Endowed Grant Established
The St. Oscar Romero Endowed Grant, established through the generosity of Holy Trinity Parish, Port Huron, is the first Latino-focused fund at the Catholic Foundation. The purpose of this permanent endowment is to strengthen the diverse Latino community of Michigan and contribute to the regions’s vitality by supporting issues and organizations that advance the socioeconomic status of Latinos, while enhancing the spiritual and leadership capacity of the entire Latino community.
2019 Grants will be awarded parishes, schools, and nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life in the Northeast Region of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
