Rosemary Kirt, a passionate advocate for young Catholics, recently joined the Catholic Foundation of Michigan’s  Founders Circle to work alongside others dedicated to evangelization.

“I became a member of the Founders’ Circle because I wanted to work with a group of like-minded Catholics who support the Foundation’s mission of evangelization and education and see first-hand how our philanthropy is making a difference,” shares Rosemary Kirt.

One of the funds held at the Catholic Foundation that is closest to Rosemary’s heart is the Oakland University Catholic Ministry (OUCM). Inspired by Archbishop-elect Edward Weisenburger’s address to youth in Arizona, she reflects on his powerful words: “People will tell you you’re the future of the Church, but I’m telling you, you’re not the future—you’re the now.”

OUCM plays a vital role in the spiritual life of students, offering a range of programs and events that foster faith, community, and personal growth. They host Ash Wednesday gatherings, retreats, Bible studies, and participate in the SEEK conference, all designed to deepen students’ spiritual journeys. Three of the six non-Catholics in the group who attended a recent SEEK conference will enter the Church at Easter. As Fr. Steve Mateja, the OU Campus Minister, says, “If you’re not moved at all by this, please check your pulse.” 

 “The Oakland University Catholic Ministry Fund fills a desire in my heart to give to organizations that are about the New Evangelization and youth,” shared Rosemary.
