Deanna M. Healy Scholarship Fund at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic School

This September, the Catholic Foundation of Michigan was honored to distribute the first-ever grant from the Deanna M. Healy Scholarship Fund to a deserving 6th-grade student at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This scholarship, established in loving honor of Deanna Healy, is designed to provide tuition assistance to students who embody her values of kindness, faith, and creativity, all while supporting the ongoing growth and academic journey of St. Hugo students.

A Lasting Tribute to a Remarkable Woman

Deanna M. Healy, who passed away on October 29, 2024, at age 87, left a profound impact on the St. Hugo community and everyone who knew her. A devoted mother, parishioner, and volunteer, Deanna believed deeply in the power of kindness, determination, and creativity to transform lives. Her motto, “Where there is a will, there is a way,” guided her throughout her life, and she worked tirelessly to bring beauty and purpose into the world, whether through her work as an administrative assistant at St. Hugo’s Parish Office or as a member of the church choir.

Her dedication to her family and faith extended to her children’s education at St. Hugo, where she was known for encouraging her children to approach their academic work with creativity and care, often using artistic touches like stencils and glitter on homework assignments. More importantly, she instilled in them the values of kindness, service, and a strong work ethic—principles that will now live on through this scholarship.

Deanna’s faith in God was beautiful and simple as evidenced by the little prayer she created for her youngest daughter to pray during a time of discernment: “ Thank you, God, for everything you have given me. Take me by the hand and make sure that I am going down the right path.” This prayer is now shared with and serves as a source of inspiration for the students who benefit from this scholarship fund, guiding them on their own journeys.

The Deanna M. Healy Scholarship Fund helps support students in grades 6 through 8 at St. Hugo who demonstrate faith, integrity, and a commitment to kindness and service.
