Jesus, the Light of the World, calls each of us to share His love and serve those in need. Your generous support has helped us answer the call to be His hands and feet in the world. Together, we have funded 100+ nonprofit projects through the Foundation’s annual granting process and provided 245 scholarships to deserving students across 44 schools. We are deeply grateful for the difference you have helped us make.
Next week, as the world celebrates Giving Tuesday, we invite you to consider helping us maximize our impact. Making a gift before year-end will have a bigger impact, as it will allow us to plan more effectively for the year ahead and meet even more of the urgent needs in the community.
Your gift—no matter the size—will help grow our granting and scholarship funds, allowing us to empower future leaders and extend Christ’s love and compassion to those who look to us for help. We hope you will join us in shining His light on Giving Tuesday and help us answer His call to love and serve.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones. We are grateful for you!

Celebrating A Legacy
Deanna M. Healy Scholarship Fund at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic School
This September, the Catholic Foundation of Michigan was honored to distribute the first-ever grant from the Deanna M. Healy Scholarship Fund to a deserving 6th-grade student at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This scholarship, established in loving honor of Deanna Healy, is designed to provide tuition assistance to students who embody her values of kindness, faith, and creativity, all while supporting the ongoing growth and academic journey of St. Hugo students.
A Lasting Tribute to a Remarkable Woman
Deanna M. Healy, who passed away on October 29, 2024, at age 87, left a profound impact on the St. Hugo community and everyone who knew her. A devoted mother, parishioner, and volunteer, Deanna believed deeply in the power of kindness, determination, and creativity to transform lives. Her motto, “Where there is a will, there is a way,” guided her throughout her life, and she worked tirelessly to bring beauty and purpose into the world, whether through her work as an administrative assistant at St. Hugo’s Parish Office or as a member of the church choir.
Her dedication to her family and faith extended to her children’s education at St. Hugo, where she was known for encouraging her children to approach their academic work with creativity and care, often using artistic touches like stencils and glitter on homework assignments. More importantly, she instilled in them the values of kindness, service, and a strong work ethic—principles that will now live on through this scholarship.
Deanna’s faith in God was beautiful and simple as evidenced by the little prayer she created for her youngest daughter to pray during a time of discernment: “ Thank you, God, for everything you have given me. Take me by the hand and make sure that I am going down the right path.” This prayer is now shared with and serves as a source of inspiration for the students who benefit from this scholarship fund, guiding them on their own journeys.
Continuing the Legacy of Kindness and Faith
The Deanna M. Healy Scholarship Fund helps support students in grades 6 through 8 at St. Hugo who demonstrate faith, integrity, and a commitment to kindness and service. The scholarship honors Deanna’s legacy by inspiring students to make a positive impact in their community while nurturing their academic and personal growth.
This fund is not just about financial support—it’s a living tribute to Deanna’s life of faith, kindness, and creativity. It aims to inspire future generations of St. Hugo students to follow her example of integrity and service, using their talents to make the world a better place.
How You Can Help
As we celebrate Deanna’s life and this new scholarship, we invite the St. Hugo community and supporters of the Catholic Foundation of Michigan to join us in honoring her memory. Your contributions will help ensure that her values live on in the hearts and actions of the students who benefit from this fund.

Supporting Catholic Education for All: Benefit raises $100K for inclusion programs
On November 7, 2024, the St. Margaret of Castello Granting Fund Benefit brought together a community united by a shared mission: supporting inclusion in Catholic education. The evening helped raise approximately $100,000 to support Catholic school inclusion programs, helping ensure that students of all abilities have access to quality education in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The event started with a moving prayer led by the children in attendance, setting the tone for a night filled with hope and dedication to a cause that impacts so many young lives. Their heartfelt words were a beautiful reminder of the power of faith and the importance of inclusion. The keynote speaker for the event was Mark Bradford of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. He spoke about the important work being done through the St. Margaret of Castello Granting Fund and shared examples of similar efforts across the country to support inclusion in Catholic schools.
Announcing the 2024 Grant Recipients
A key moment of the evening was the announcement of the 2024 grant recipients. We are proud to announce that Divine Child Catholic Schools and St. William Catholic School will each receive $50,000 to expand and strengthen their inclusion programs. These grants will directly fund initiatives that provide vital resources, staff training, and support services for students with diverse learning needs. Learn more about Divine Child High School’s first year of impact by watching the video below.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the generosity of our gracious hosts, our incredible sponsors whose contributions made this event a reality. We are deeply grateful to every guest who attended, donated, and showed their support for the St. Margaret of Castello Granting Fund. It is through the collective efforts of this incredible community that we are able to raise significant funds to support the future of Catholic education.
How You Can Help
The funds raised are just the beginning of a long-term effort to expand and enhance inclusion in all of our local Catholic schools in perpetuity. As we look forward to the impact these grants will have in the coming years, we remain committed to supporting schools that prioritize inclusive practices and programs for all students, regardless of their learning needs. The St. Margaret of Castello granting fund has a target goal of $5 million dollars, with a goal of reaching $2 million before the end of 2024.
