Young Catholics from across Metro Detroit met up for a day of impact and community-building on April 27 at Spring Forward, an event hosted by the Catholic Foundation of Michigan.Held at the iconic Fowling Warehouse in Hamtramck, the event included opportunities for fellowship, service, and learning about the Catholic Foundation’s mission. Attendees enjoyed fowling (throwing footballs at the opposing team’s bowling pins) and blanket-making with Fleece & Thank You, a local nonprofit organization.

The afternoon was a resounding success; both the blanket-making stations and fowling lanes were filled during the event. Many attendees commented about new friends and plans to meet up in the future.

Nick Kristock of Fleece & Thank You addresses the attendees.

Nicholas Kristock, Fleece & Thank You’s founder and executive director, shared that each fleece blanket the organization donates is a sign of hope and inspiration for the hospitalized child recipient. Blanket-makers also recorded video messages offering support and encouragement to the children who would receive the fleece gifts. Fleece & Thank You partners with 26 hospitals throughout Michigan and aims to make 30,000 blankets per year, one for each pediatric patient annually admitted to Michigan hospitals.

We were incredibly happy to bring together so many young adult Catholics for a good cause while engaging in philanthropy and fun. It was exciting to make such a difference and be part of the Foundation’s mission!
