The Catholic Foundation of Michigan is pleased to welcome staff member Christina Shabo who serves as Project Director. Christina comes to the Foundation with degrees in Public Administration and Communications from Oakland University in Auburn Hills and a passion for public service and economic development.

Prior to joining the Catholic Foundation, Christina was the communications manager for Secure Checks, a financial services software company, where she oversaw all marketing strategy and design for their print and digital projects and campaigns.

Christina has a knack for developing creative strategies in a modern marketing world. “I am excited to use the skills I acquired from the private sector to help build and sustain our Catholic community for years to come,” Christina says.

The youngest of ten kids, Christina comes from a beautiful and faithful Chaldean Catholic family and attends Holy Martyrs Chaldean Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. She has worked as a youth group leader throughout the St. Thomas Chaldean eparchy for eight years and teaches catechism classes at St. Anastasia in Troy.

With a deep love for volunteerism and service, Christina served as an AmeriCorps associate to help mobilize low-income neighborhoods and has volunteered with multiple local and national organizations as a crisis telephone and text line counselor since 2011. She most recently served as the Director of Membership for Young Catholic Professionals and helped kickstart its Detroit chapter in 2018.

“From an early age, I have had a deep desire to devote my life to public service, not simply because of the need for advocates in the world but also because service reminds me to live captivated by God’s creation and open to continuous transformation,” Christina shares.

As Project Director, Christina is responsible for all aspects of the Foundation’s external-facing projects, including project strategy, gift fulfillment, vendor relations, community relationships and impact reporting.

“Christina’s creativity, dynamism, and her leadership experience in the church and in the private sector make her an outstanding addition to the Catholic Foundation’s team,” President and CEO Angela Moloney says.
