Our Philosophy

The Catholic Foundation of Michigan serves as the center of Catholic philanthropy in southeast Michigan. The efforts of the Foundation and the donors, parishes, schools, and charities we work with create a vital financial ministry that is a source of abundant blessings on the Church and community. At the Catholic Foundation of Michigan we:

Support our community.

When we work together, we provide funding to support our local parishes, schools, and ministries in perpetuity, allowing their staff to focus on what really matters—Christ-centered service to others.

Invest responsibly.

The Catholic Foundation is dedicated to the highest levels of transparency and professionalism. Working with investment advisors at Merrill Lynch, we are committed to prudent investment strategies that will maximize the impact of your fund, while always following socially responsible Catholic investment policies.

Share the joy of philanthropy.

All Catholics should experience the joy of charitable giving. The Catholic Foundation makes it easy for you to connect with the greatest needs and make your dollar count.

Your philanthropy is our ministry.

Giving through the Catholic Foundation is limitless. Whether you seek to give locally to make a difference in your neighborhood, or look to address broader issues, we have the expertise to assist donors like you to make a lasting impact on the issues that matter most to you.

Socially Responsible Investing

According to guidelines set forth by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholics are called to invest their resources using three strategies:

– Do no harm.
– Actively participate in corporate governance.
– Use positive strategies.

It is virtually impossible for the average investor to keep track of whether his or her investments are aligned with USCCB guidelines. Yet we are called to be responsible stewards in how we manage our financial resources. The Catholic Foundation of Michigan does your due diligence and provides the expertise to navigate sound investment strategies while preserving Catholic values.

“When we give ourselves to planting and nurturing love here on earth, our efforts will reach beyond our own chronological existence.”

—Henri Nouwen, Catholic priest and writer
